The Little Black Book

There are probably only two iPhone cases I would purchase, this is one of them.

Available from Pad&Quill $39.99.

They also have similar cases for the iPad, both iPhone 4 and iPhone 3gs and the different iPod models. If I ever pay off my Model RR debt I might actually purchase one.

More minor than a minor..

Just spent the last 20 minutes or so changing a couple of my link categories around and added 5 or so new links. The links section was starting to become a bit of a brothel, so much work was needed.

Starship Modeler <== Sci-fi model kit reviews, information and a online shop.

G Systems Shop <== The highest of high detailed Gundam model kits with the price to match.

Reynaulds Euro Imports <== Huge importer of European model kits. USA based online shop. A very, very large range of brands and products.

Micro Macro Mundo – RocoUSA Inc <== Another huge importer of European model kits, also USA based. Prices are very well… priced, even when converted to AU.

A-trains <== A online shop with a large selection of Railroad paraphernalia.

A change of plans

My last post had me saying that I was going to purchase a few model kits that were of the Amusement Park variety. I had planned on those items being my next purchase, but as today is a new day, I decided to lay my cash down on some not-so Amusement Park type items. The change wasn’t entirely spur of the moment, more so a “Oh shite, I have a discount voucher I NEED to use before the end of August.”

You know how it goes, everything planned to a – T, and BAM!, the smallest little detail and everything changes.

NorthEastern – Sam Cahoon’s Fish Pier.

This kit is laser cut smoothly milled wood, It will be my first wood kit. If it turns out looking much nicer than good ol’ plastic I will be purchase more of these wood kits.

This PRR Broadway Limited passenger cars are meant to be pulled by the GG1, which by chance I just happen to own one. Lucky me.

So there you go, not quite what the same as what was posted previously. At least the voucher I had did it’s job.

Narrowing down my next Model RR purchase

I have started to form some ideas as to what I want featured in my RR layout, if I ever have the room to start putting it together.

I was leaning towards, having down one side of the layout a small fairground on a pier over the water. I know creating the pier for this fairground to sit on would have to be made from scratch, which is fine, I can probably handle that. As for some of the rides and attractions I was really hopeingĀ  that I would find some pre made plastic kits somewhere online. Low and behold:

Oh snap, A Ferris Wheel!

Oh snap x 2! A light kit for the Ferris Wheel, OMG say what!

A blue ride, oh-yeah.

Lookout its a Carousel and its yellow.

Excellent, some stalls with German writing. That will go down well with my American style layout.

More stalls with a foreign language for my layout.

I have found around 20 other items I want to purchase, as for how I would integrate them into my layout, that will require more thought.

One other building I have found that is just so amazingly bad-assed I couldn’t not share it with you.

A burning tax office! comes with a smoke generator, flashing lights and weathered facade with smoke damage. OMG.

Mareeba Warbirds Airshow 22 August 2010

One thing I noticed is that for an Airshow, they appeared to have more cars than planes on display. Not that I was complaining. Loads of classic cars and quite a few non jet-powered fighter planes on display.

The Roulette’s which are the Australian Air-force’s elite aerobatic display team were up for the day doing stunts and formation flying, they were probably the most memorable part of the day. You will recognize them in my photos because they are all red in colour and have a big R on the tail fin.

We were lucky/smart enough to come early and pick a park at the end of the runway. This aloud us to set up some chairs and watch the planes taking off over head from the shade provided by our SUV’s boot lid. Unlike the hundreds if not thousands of poor bastards that were standing on the hot concrete in the sun in the main area. You will notice one of the photos which shows all the people standing together in the sun. That photo and quite a few others were taken from the ‘slack photographers position’.

Enough with the text, here are the pics.

Mission complete. WordPress 3.0.1 updated

I finally decided to upgrade WordPress to 3.0.1. Before I did that I read up on how to create ‘child themes’. I had to do that because I use the theme Twentyten, one of WordPress 3.0′s stock themes. This particular theme had received an update that would be applied with the 3.0.1 update. When you update a theme, you loose all of your style changes (style changes control all the cosmetic changes you make i.e. colour, font size, etc)and Me being some what, unwilling to loose my changes had to create a child theme.

Creating the child theme is a piece of cake, the instructions for creating a child theme were nice and simple (which is always great). Unfortunately, they didn’t specify that you have to then select the newly created child theme as your main theme. This also requires that you proceed to modify any header, background and menu settings you previously had.

I had soo much fun trying to figure that out, I just had to pinch myself that this much fun could be real.

A Hobby Fanatics Link plus one..

Hi all, today just one new link, I have others I want to add but because my list of links is starting to get quite long, I will have to organize them into categories to tidy things up before I add more links.

Hobby Fanatics – Excellent forum for all things model kits and more.

I have posted some photos of my ‘just about, but not quite done’ – completed Perfect Grade 1/60 RX-178 MK II Gundam in the above forum.

You can jump right to it here ==> Click me <==

Anyways, hopefully soon my growing list of links will be organized into their proper categories.
